Mozesas Jakobas Domoševickis

Mozesas Jakobas Domoševickis (1920–?) was born in Vilkaviškis. His parents owned a small shop. From 1930 to 1937, he studied at the Jewish Gymnasium in Vilkaviškis. In August 1937, he applied for admission to the Pharmacy Department at the Faculty of Medicine of Vytautas Magnus University and was admitted. In October 1937, he submitted another application to study in the Physics and Chemistry Department at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Vytautas Magnus University, where he began his studies. After the faculty was transferred to Vilnius in 1940, he continued his studies at Vilnius University. On 19 September 1941, he was expelled from the university in accordance with an order issued on 17 September 1941 by the Department of Higher Education under the Board of Education, which was subordinate to the National Socialist authorities. Mozesas Jakobas Domoševickis survived the Holocaust. In 1944, he submitted an application to continue his studies and stated in his autobiography that during the National Socialist occupation he had gone into hiding in the Vilkaviškis District. Documents preserved in the archives of Vilnius University show that from 1944 to 1946, he studied in the Chemistry Department at the Faculty of Chemistry of Vilnius State University, although there is no information indicating that he completed his studies.
