Pesia Funk

Pesia Funk (Pesia Funkaitė, Pesia Funkowna) (1920–?) was born in Vilnius. In 1927, she began studying at Sofija Gurevičiūtė Gymnasium. In 1938, she transferred to the private Gymnasium of the Central Jewish Education Committee in Vilnius and graduated in the spring of 1939. In the autumn of the same year, she enrolled in the Biology Department at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Stephen Báthory University. On 16 January 1940, she submitted an application for admission to the English Studies Department at the Faculty of Humanities but was not admitted. In the autumn of 1940, she submitted a new application for admission to the Biology Department at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Vilnius University and was accepted as a student. On 19 September 1941, she was expelled from the university in accordance with an order issued on 17 September 1941 by the Department of Higher Education under the Board of Education, which was subordinate to the National Socialist authorities. No further information on the fate of Pesia Funk is known.
