Mojžesz Kaganowicz (Maižiešius Kaganovičius, Maušas Kaganovičius) (1916–?) was born in Vilnius. He was educated privately until 1922, after which he enrolled at Dzięcielski Gymnasium in Vilnius and graduated in 1936. From 1937 to 1939, he studied at Stephen Báthory University. On 8 January 1940, he applied to study in the Physics and Chemistry Department at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Vytautas Magnus University and was accepted as an unclassified student. On 22 February of the same year, he requested full student status, which was granted. After the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences was transferred to Vilnius, he became a student at Vilnius University. On 19 September 1941, he was expelled from the university in accordance with an order issued on 17 September 1941 by the Department of Higher Education under the Board of Education, which was subordinate to the National Socialist authorities.
