- Memory diploma granted:2026
Jonas Konkulevičius (1929–?) was born in Naujamiestis, Panevėžys County. In 1936, he began attending primary school, and in 1941, enrolled in Panevėžys Gymnasium No. 1. In 1945, he moved to Vilnius and began studying at Vilnius Adult Gymnasium. In 1947, he returned to Panevėžys, and in 1948, graduated from Panevėžys Adult School. In 1948, he worked as an actor at Panevėžys Theatre, and a year later took up a position at Panevėžys Music School. In autumn 1949, he enrolled in the Faculty of Law at Vilnius State University, but already on 17 October, he received a reprimand for missing lectures without a valid excuse. In March 1952, his case was reviewed at a meeting of the Komsomol Committee of Vilnius State University for allegedly concealing his parents’ landholdings (70 hectares) and the fact that his brother had been arrested in 1944 and his father in 1945–1946. The database “Lithuanians in Siberia” indicates that his father, Jonas Konkulevičius, and his brother, Julius Konkulevičius, were arrested. On 19 April 1952, by order of the Rector, Jonas Konkulevičius was removed from the list of students as “unfit to be a Soviet student”.
