Aron Melamed

Aron Melamed (1919–?) was born in Sharkawshchyna (Belarus). He later moved to Vilnius, where he attended the Pereleman School. In 1930, he began studying at the private Jewish “Tarbut” Gymnasium and successfully graduated in 1938. It may be assumed that he studied for some time at Stephen Báthory University, as he noted in his autobiography that he had been unable to continue his studies for financial reasons. In September 1940, he applied to study in the Biology Department at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Vilnius University. On 19 September 1941, he was expelled from the university in accordance with an order issued on 17 September 1941 by the Department of Higher Education under the Board of Education, which was subordinate to the National Socialist authorities. No further information on the fate of Aron Melamed is known.
