Juozas Petkevičius

Juozas Petkevičius (1931–?) was born in the village of Kalniškiai, Ariogala County, into a working-class farming (peasant) family. In 1944, he enrolled in Ariogala Gymnasium and successfully graduated in July 1949. In September of the same year, he applied to study at the Faculty of Law at Vilnius State University and was admitted. On 27 September 1952, by order of the Rector, he was expelled from his studies “for failure to attend lectures and as unfit to be a Soviet student”. That same year, he was deported to the Komi region.
