Zina Rozentalytė

Zina Rozentalytė (Rozental, Rozentalaitė) (1921–?) was born on 18 February 1921 in Suwalki. Here she attended Maria Konopnicka state gymnasium upon finishing which she passed school-leaving examinations in humanitarian subjects. Her father, Šimonas Hiršas from Maków in Poland, was a gardener; her mother’s name was Lina Zimanskaitė (Liba, Lyba, Libe Zimanski). Later the family moved to Marijampolė where the family lived when their daughter Zina left for Vilnius University where from 1940 she studied history at the Faculty of Humanities. On 19 September 1941, Zina Rozentalytė was expelled from Vilnius University on the basis of Order No 21606 of 17 September 1941 of the Higher Education Department of the Board of Education. During the Second World War, she was in Lithuania but the exact location is unknown. She and her parents were killed during the Holocaust. The testimony was submitted by her cousin Charna Doron in 1956.
